It amazes me that I can travel halfway around the world and meet people who do the same thing I do. Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet music teachers and students in Queenstown, in a workshop organized by Turn Up the Music.
I gave my talk entitled "Seven Foundations of Piano Technique" and we had a lively discussion about piano teaching and technique, and how to address various technical issues we encounter in our students.
I believe that the same fundamental principles can apply to all levels of musical experience and teaching. Even though I primarily work with collegiate and advanced pre-college students, I am essentially applying the same principles as a teacher who works with beginning and very young students.
Thank you to Turn Up the Music for inviting me - it was a privilege!
